Today in Philly history in 1833, Mozart’s “Requiem Mass in D minor” was performed for the first time in the United States, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Located on Thirteenth and Chestnut Streets, St. John’s was erected in 1832, and initially served as Philadelphia’s Roman Catholic cathedral.
